Location
Lefkada "the emerland island" is a wonderful island in Ionian sea and is found between Corfu and Kefallonia.
It is the fourth in size island of Eptanisa with extent 302km2 and population 23.000 residents.
Lefkada is near to the coasts of Akarnania in Western Greece. A lot of historians such as Thoykydidis and Stravon report it in their books as a peninsula. The distance from each other is 50 metres and they are connected via navigable bridge.
Around the island of Lefkada exist other 20 smaller islands such as Meganisi (sailors' island), Kalamos, Kastos, Madoyri (where the house of the poet A. Balaoriti is found), Scorpion (Onasis' island) Sparti, Kythros, Thileia and all together constitute the prefecture of Lefkada with capital the homonym city.

Nikiana is hardly 10 Kilometres far from Lefkada and 5 Kilometres from Nydri.
Nikiana is one of the most popular destinations of Lefkada and combines the modern tourist infrastructures with the marvelous beaches.
Lefkada is the unique island where you can come with your car without using the ferry boat, but using the bridge of continuous flow that connects the island with Akarnania. The tunnel Preveza-Aktio that is under the sea, makes the access easier in the island from the north-western Greece but also the harbour of Igoumenitsa (100 km), that is a big gate of entry from Western and Central Europe. The bridge in Rio-Antirio facilitates considerably the connection of island with the rest regions of Greece, as well as with the harbour of Patras (170 km), that is the second big gate of entry from Europe.
